STOWL

I was responsible for the product design of “STOWL,” a seating storage piece released by TEKO DESIGN, a brand by Daishin Kogyo Co., Ltd., a metalworking company based in Moriguchi, Osaka.
In Japan’s compact living environments, storage is often prioritized within residential functionality. For example, entryways are expected to accommodate items such as emergency supplies, pet goods, and boots, yet homes with sufficient storage space are limited.
STOWL is a storage unit you can sit on. Its dimensions were carefully designed for comfortable seating, allowing it to function as a place to sit while putting on or taking off shoes when placed in an entryway, while also providing convenient storage. It can also be used in living rooms or bedrooms as a seat or even as a side table.
Made possible by Daishin Kogyo’s metalworking expertise, STOWL features softly rounded steel corners, combined with a top available in natural wood or linoleum, creating a design that harmonizes with interior spaces. The interior can store approximately four pairs of shoes, offering a gentle and practical solution for everyday living.
