Ā TYPE WALL

I was responsible for the product design of the wall-mounted scissors [Ā TYPE WALL], developed as part of ARS THINK., an in-house project by Ars Corporation, a company based in Sakai, Osaka, specializing in the planning and manufacturing of professional cutting tools.

Through research, we found that while most households own several pairs of scissors, they often lack a fixed place and are easily misplaced. This project aims to establish a “designated place” by mounting the scissors on the wall, while adding value through a design that harmonizes with interior spaces.
Conventional scissors typically feature ergonomically shaped handles. For TYPE WALL, however, the entire form was reconsidered to maintain usability while achieving visual harmony with wall clocks, furniture, and other interior elements. The result is a primitive yet symbolic composition: a circular handle paired with a track-shaped elliptical holder, presenting a new, modern interpretation of scissors.

The material used is NAGORI®, a plastic derived from minerals found in seawater, offering a pleasant weight and tactile quality. It is paired with Ars Corporation’s highest-grade blades, known for their exceptional sharpness.
